An hour's drive from Arusha brings us to the Machame Gate, the starting point of the Machame route. Here, we complete park formalities, meet our team of porters, and commence our ascent! The initial stretch of the route leads us steadily upward, passing through dense and breathtaking rainforest. While less frequented, this path may be overgrown in places and can be damp and muddy underfoot. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included.
From Machame Camp, we journey to Shira Cave at 3800m. The day's hike begins with a steep climb followed by a more gradual ascent. After lunch, we descend and then ascend again, reaching Shira Camp by day's end. Walking time approximately 5 hours. Full board. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included.
Our trek takes us to Barranco Wall at 3900m. We proceed slowly, covering around 5 kilometers before ascending to 4600m for acclimatization at Lover's Tower, then descending to Barranco Camp at 3900m. We depart Barranco Camp for Barafu Camp at 4600m. The day's journey involves climbing Barranco Wall to Karanga, offering excellent views of the West Breach before reaching Barafu. Full board. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included.
From Barafu, we ascend to Uhuru Peak at 5895m, then descend to Mweka at 3100m. Beginning around midnight, we embark on a torchlight climb to Stella Point, continuing to Uhuru Peak, the highest point, offering breathtaking views of glaciers and plains below. Afterward, we descend to Mweka or High Camp, arriving late afternoon. Full board. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included.
Descending to Mweka Village, our journey concludes with a 4-hour descent. Upon arrival, we bid farewell to our team and are transferred back to the hotel in Arusha. Remember to tip your guides, cooks, and porters. Upon reaching Arusha, it's time to celebrate! Breakfast and lunch included.
